Market Context & Rules
This market resolves to "YES" if ANY ONE of the following three pastors: 1. Pastor Samuel Kakande (Synagogue Church of All Nations) 2. Pastor Robert Kayanja (Miracle Centre Cathedral) 3. Pastor Aloysius Bugingo (House of Prayer Ministries International) physically visits at least ONE of the following accredited benchmark hospitals: - Mulago National Referral Hospital - Rubaga Hospital (Uganda Martyrs Hospital Lubaga) - St. Francis Hospital Nsambya and conducts a public healing, deliverance, or patient prayer session on or before October 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM EAT. Rules & Verification Criteria: 1. Scope of Clergy: Only the 3 named lead pastors qualify. Associate pastors, evangelists, or church delegations visiting without the head pastor do NOT qualify. 2. Verified Presence & Live Video: Proof of the visit does NOT require mainstream TV or print media. The session can be verified by authentic, unedited live video recordings or live streams from social media, bloggers, TikTokers, or citizen journalists, provided the video clearly demonstrates the pastor physically present inside the hospital grounds or patient wards conducting prayers/healing. 3. Exclusions: A private visit to see a personal family member/associate without ministering to patients, recycled old archival footage, AI-generated/deepfake video, televised prayers from afar, or mere verbal promises to visit do NOT qualify as a "YES". 4. If none of the 3 pastors conduct a qualifying public healing session at any of the 3 designated hospitals by October 30, 2026, 11:59 PM EAT, the market resolves to "NO".
In October 2026, a fierce national debate gripped Uganda's airwaves, social media, and street commentary regarding faith-healing claims among the country's most influential charismatic leaders. Civic activist Frank Gashumba issued a direct public challenge to prominent Kampala mega-pastors, asserting that claimed supernatural healings should be demonstrated where the sick and suffering actually congregate: inside major hospital wards and ICUs, rather than within tightly controlled church auditoriums. Gashumba backed his challenge with a substantial cash bounty for any documented hospital cure. This market benchmarks Kampala's three most recognizable charismatic leaders: - Pastor Samuel Kakande (The Synagogue Church of All Nations, Kubiri - situated along the foot of Mulago Hill) - Pastor Robert Kayanja (Miracle Centre Cathedral, Rubaga - operating in the direct vicinity of Rubaga Hospital) - Pastor Aloysius Bugingo (House of Prayer Ministries International, Canaan Land - operating adjacent to Makerere and the Mulago corridor) The benchmark medical institutions—Mulago National Referral Hospital, Rubaga Hospital (Uganda Martyrs), and St. Francis Hospital Nsambya—represent Uganda’s most heavily monitored clinical referral complexes. Because these hospitals operate under strict clinical governance, medical ethics, and security clearances, any organized faith ministry within their patient wards would represent an unprecedented public milestone in the ongoing debate over charismatic authority and medical reality.
